Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority
"In 2013 the Boston-CRRC Changchun (CRRC MA) became the first project for China Transit Car builder in the United States. Cadidar and ThyssenTransp, LLC worked together with the CRRC Changchun Design team adjusting the material specification according to the design and test requirements for car construction, eventually establishing the technical and sourcing requirements for the project's steel needs.
ThyssenTransp, LLC sourced high-strength carbon steel for critical structural sections of the train car. ThyssenTransp, LLC also sourced and supplied the stainless steel which is used for critical areas of both the interior and exterior sections of the train car. The steel was sourced in the United States due to its high-quality strength to meet the stringent technical requirements of the train car manufacturer and MBTA."
Rail Lifting Tong On SEPTA Trolley Line
"SEPTA’s challenge is to replace several 30+ years old rail tongs that are used for moving large sections of girder rail that is used on SEPTA’s Trolley line.
With no pre-existing drawings or previous manufacturer known, SEPTA reached out to ThyssenTransp, LLC who has supplied rail tongs to other sections of SEPTA’s Rail Line to provide an updated rail lifting tong design for its girder rail.
ThyssenTransp, LLC worked with SEPTA’s engineer as well as a world-class lifting tong manufacturer to develop a concept design that SEPTA has approved for prototyping and testing. ThyssenTransp, LLC will provide one unit for testing purposes. Based on the results of the testing ThyssenTransp, LLC will work with the manufacturer and SEPTA to make any necessary adjustments in order to provide a safe, easy to use, high-quality rail lifting tong."
